Peter Bowler

PETER BOWLER LL.B.

FMS UK Co-Founder and CEO Peter is a career sportsman having had a twenty year professional cricket career with three counties Leicestershire CCC, Derbyshire CCC and Somerset CCC. He was honoured to have been inducted into the Somerset Hall of Fame in 2017.

On retiring from cricket in 2004 Peter qualified as a Solicitor working in Corporate Law gaining a wealth of business experience in business sales, mergers and acquisitions.

Peter’s early life – like so many aspiring sportsman – involved junior coaching both in cricket and rugby and he brings a lifetime of experience in the sporting and movement world to the FMS UK project.

Dr. Lee Burton

Dr. Lee Burton PhD, ATC, CSCS

FMS Co-Founder Dr. Lee Burton received his Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University and his Master Degree in Education with an emphasis in athletic training from Old Dominion University.

Lee received his Doctorate Degree from Virginia Tech with an emphasis in Health Promotion and Wellness. He attained his Certification of Athletic Training through the NATA-BOC and his Certification of Strength and Conditioning through the NSCA.

He has presented internationally on numerous sports medicine topics. Additionally, Lee has authored book chapters and articles in a variety of sports medicine journals and produced instructional videos concerning functional applications for treatment, assessment and conditioning of active individuals.

Lee consults with a wide variety of organizations and individuals including NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, military/government entities, as well as the Cooper and Mayo Clinics on injury prevention and performance enhancement.

Gray Cook

Gray Cook - MSPT, OCS, CSCS

Gray is the founder of Functional Movement Systems, a company that promotes the concept of movement pattern screening and assessment.

He is practicing physical therapist, a orthopedic certified specialist, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and an RKC kettlebell instructor.

Gray received his graduate physical therapy education at the University of Miami School of Medicine with a research focus on orthopedics and sports rehabilitation.

His work and ideas are at the forefront of fitness, conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation. A respected author and advocate for movement integrity you’ll find him lecturing on these topics several weekends each month, worldwide.

Dr Joseph Esformes

Dr Joseph I. Esformes, MSc, PhD, CSCS

Dr Joseph Esformes has a Bachelor Degree in Sports Science and Physical Education from College of Sport Sciences (Athens, Greece), a Master Degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Manchester Metropolitan University, a Doctorate Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Leeds, and has attained his Certification of Strength and Conditioning through the NSCA.

Before embarking in an academic career, Joseph worked as a fitness instructor and strength coach for more than a decade. Since 2005, he has been a full-time University lecturer. Joseph is currently a Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning at Cardiff Metropolitan University and a lecturer for Functional Movement Systems, delivering courses on the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and corrective exercise.

Previously, he taught Exercise Physiology at the University of Leeds and Sports Conditioning at the University of West of England. His research is in the areas of Strength and Conditioning and Cardiovascular Physiology. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented in international conferences in North America and Europe.

Huw Thomas

Huw Thomas

Since graduating from Exeter University with a Sports Science degree, Huw has worked in Independent School’s for 22+ years in a variety of roles including Director of Rugby, Director of Sport, Housemaster, Director of Operations and Co-Curricular. He is currently Headmaster at Plymouth College Prep School.

Having both led and manged sporting programmes across the whole school age range, from Pre-Prep through to international age grade performers, he has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the wholistic needs of individual pupils and the environments required for children to both develop and flourish across all age ranges from 3-18.

He is ideally placed to contribute to the Advisory Board at FMS Schools.
